take a cold shower

There is one thing I want to do and I hope I can make it next winter.

It’s to swim in a heated outdoor pool while it’s snowing.

This idea came up 3 years ago, when I was pregnant with Duderino.

At that time, I used to go to the pool to swim. Swimming is a great workout during and after pregnancies.

It works the whole body, the abdominal muscles and it is super gentle because you don’t feel gravity.

At my club, there were 3 pools: 2 indoors and 1 outdoor.

Depending on the weather, I swimmed inside or outside.

A couple weeks after giving birth, it started snowing.

And to my great surprise, the outdoor pool was open.

As long as the temperature was equal or superior to 30 °F (0°C), the pool was open.

But I didn’t feel I had recovered enough strength after the pregnancy to to be able to swim in the snow.

All I could do was  look at people who were outside with envy.

Since then, I don’t go to that club anymore but I hope I can go back this winter and experiment this hot/cold contrast.

In the meanwhile, everytime I can or every time I need an energy boost, I try to finish my shower with cold water.

I have to confess it’s pretty rare.

But yesterday, I did it.

I went out for a quick run. It was hot outside.

After 10 minutes, a thunderstorm broke out. I went back home, wet from head to toe.

I immediately went into the bathroom and took a 100% cold water shower.

But I’m going to be honest with you. It wasn’t as cold as I expected.

I guess the water was warm because the day was warm and so were the pipes.

But still, when I got out, I felt fresh and full of ernegy,

Was it the run? Was it the run under the rain? Was it the cold shower?

I don’t know for sure,

But at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter that much. The most important thing is that I felt good.

Which is the whole purpose of a Self-Care Act, right?
